Tukituki Water Storage land exchange
Back in May, FMC raised concerns in a submission about the public access implications of the proposed Tukituki Water Storage land exchange.
The proposal would swap 29.7 hectares of conservation land in the eastern Ruahine Forest Park for 170 hectares of private land, to enable the construction of a dam and reservoir on the Makaroro River. FMC have now lodged a second submission following the Department of Conservation draft report on the proposal. FMC agree with DOC's overall conclusion that the proposal would not enhance overall conservation values, but question their finding that it would enhance recreation values.
